I get knocked down

Last week I said this was a bit of a theme song. I didn't mean it literally! Yesterday I somehow fell down and injured myself. I had surgery last night and I am off work,on crutches, for several weeks.

I came home from hospital a little while ago. So now I am on workers compensation payments. Amazing how life changes in an instant isn't it.

I also realised I am addicted to blogging when I was lying in the emergency room, in pain, thinking about blogging what was happening!

So I will be cancelling the clients, the new referrals I accepted and the few old clients I kept, again (de ja vue!).

So here is a video for anyone feeling a bit battered by life at the moment.

Chin up!

Oh my gosh!!! I'm sorry that you were injured. I'm glad that you have a positive attitude about it though, and that will lead to a quicker recovery. :)

Oh no! You had surgery?! You must have been in agony! How are you feeling now?

By the way, I was inspired by your switch to Aldi and your description of the savings you've made... I tried shopping there for the first time last week and it's great! I was expecting the quality of the food to be lower than at the big brand supermarkets but it isn't at all and, like you say, some things are better. Thanks for the tip (again!)! Hope you feel better very soon.

Hi Louise, sorry to hear about your injury, I hope you're up and about soon.

I wanted to tell you that I tagged you with the 7 Ps tag. You can check it out at http://mikesmoneyrants.blogspot.com/2007/08/seven-ps-rave.html
Maybe this will give you something to do while you're recovering.
I hope you join in and be careful out there.

Limp Louise,

So glad to hear that you're able to spend more time blogging!

Money saving tip - get everyone else in your house to repeat your acrobatics. Nobody will be able to shop and you may even hit your target?

Seriously though, and this is very easy to say (sat, and able-bodied at a keyboard), you have to see the opportunity in this and perhaps the fate?

I know this incredibly well-educated, PR guru who gets humungous press for people.

She's the last person in the world you would expect to be a tarot card reader or clairvoyant-type person.

But she is.

She does readings for people.

And I'm no clairvoyant either. But I have this weird feeling that this will turn out to be a blessing for you.

Because you're so focused, you will discover a way of turning adversity on its head into an opportunity.

You really must check out this posting from Cath Lawson about switching off from a proplem, only for the answer to hit you when you're doing something completely different.

Must figure out HTML stuff so I can enter a link into a post, but her site is www.cathlawson.com/blog.

Look for the post on 29th August titled "Sometimes You Shouldn’t Think Too Hard".

Ian, there is something in what you are saying. I checked out the article"

I think programming your sub-conscious is important.

When you do, the answers magically arrive.

Reading back my post, I'm worried it came across wrong!

In adversity (and in our office right now!) we wind each other up. Not sure if it's a Scouse thing (Liverpool people are called 'Scousers') but adversity often brings out the best in us.

An 11-year old was shot dead in Liverpool within the last week.

Unheard of. Particularly because the area was very suburban and repectable.

And football unites us. The kid and his family were an Everton fan. The other team in the city is Liverpool FC. Traditionally arch-rivals.

But Liverpool FC invited the family to the game the other night and played the Everton theme song as the team entered the pitch.

Unheard of in other UK cities who have more than one major team in the city.

The crowd chanted "Merseyside, Merseyside..." (our county name).

The local community is united against a common threat which is teenage gun crime - never thought we'd have it in out town and the killer is likely a 11-16 year-old.

What's this got to do with anything?

Firstly, when adversity strikes, I mean no offence when I "jest" about unfortunate situations.

It often helps lighten the situation.

Secondly, solidarity. Because I empathise with the set-back and want to see yuou turn it around, it's always better to view adveristy as something that can present an opportunity if you look for it rather than fret about the misfortune.

I suspect marindaing in the refrigerator of your mind is an absolutely gourmet delight!

Ah, Louise

I am sorry to hear about your fall.

But it's amazing that your worker's comp kicked in so fast--things must be different in Australia. Here, you get worker's comp only if you work for an employer, not yourself. And it takes awhile for the checks to come in.

Any chance your hubby will let you play the Diva--maybe you could have a little bell to ring and he'll come running, eager to wait upon you hand and foot?

Hi Grace, luckily for me I have a part time job and I fell there so I get workers comp from that.

I do feel like a bit of a Diva! I am glad that no-one put my fall on the net like poor Beyonce, though I did jump straight back up and try and look as if nothing at all out of the ordinairy had happened.

I think I gave a few people a good laugh until we all suddenly realised it was serious.
I like the idea of a bell though, much better than bellowing down the hallway!
