"She'll be Apples!"
Our apple trees are groaning with fruit! When we first moved in here I had a vision of a cottage garden, fruit trees, vegetables and lots of flowers and birds. So I planted fruit trees: apples, peaches and cherries. And each year we have the pleasure of picking fruit from our own garden. We share a bit with the birds and the dog eats the ones on the ground so there is always plenty to go around.
At the minute we surrounded by apples, inside and out. Delicious and granny smiths. So we are eating stewed apples for breakfast, apple pie, apple crumble and crisp apples to take to work. I've been giving them away this week.
I really would like to get back to spending more time in the garden. It really has become a jungle since Dad got sick. If I do get this job we can finally finish the ripped up sections of the yard. In the meantime we enjoy the other parts of the garden that are overflowing with flowers and fruit.
But today I need to get outside and pick apples before it gets to hot and this afternoon I will do some cooking with them. There has been a bit of a late heatwave here lately, its predicted 30 degrees today.
Here are some great apple sites I have found.
The Apple Journal. This is a lovely site. The recipes are taken from The Encyclopedia of Practical Horticulture published in 1914 in North Yakima.

Don't get sunburnt!
I'm not a huge apple fan but I love Royal Galas, and home grown ones must taste nicer than ones from the shop that have been in cold storage.
It's one of the things I do dream of having one day, my own backyard that I can grow things in!
Yet again, I want to emigrate to Australia. And I'll have to use this blog for inspiration on saving up to make it happen.
Yum...I would relish in having my own apple trees.
You could make apple jams or chutneys and give away as gifts.
yeah I do love having space to grow my own fruit, I would love to get some veggies in this year as well.
when the kids were little they & their friends would have spitting competitiions and spit the seeds of the fruit at each other. as a result we have had apple and cherry trees pop up in the most unlikely places!
