Bum Marketing Works!

My article marketing efforts are starting to pay off. Last year I set up a niche site which only cost me $6.99 domain for registration. I wrote about 10 pages of content, and then submitted some articles to free article directories. Every now and again I write a few more and submit them. So the cost of the site has been only the domain fee and my time spent writing the articles.

Yesterday that site received over 300 hits just from those free articles! I have made almost over $600 from that site since setting it up in September last year, with very little work. Imagine what I could do if I put some effort into it! If I wrote articles consistently then the results would just keep on improving.
I have decided to revamp the site a bit, remove some non performing ads, start a mailing list and get back to work on my information product. I plan to do some more consistent article writing each weekend and really try and increase my passive income.

Bum marketing really does work! it costs nothing to get started except your time. If you have no money at all you could set up your site on a blogspot blog. Here is bum marketing 101:

1. Choose an affiliate product that you want to promote.

2. Set up a webpage or a blog a squeeze page linked to your affiliate link.

3. Or set up a small niche site with information and affiliate ads.

4. Write an article on your topic, put links to your site in the bio box and submit.

5. Keep writing articles and submitting.

6. Collect the money!

7. Go back to step one and start again.

That's an impressive result. The thing that really interests me is the proportion of effort to the resuilts.

With some more thought and application, I bet those results could become really worthwhile.

Sorry I've not visited much lately - having some of those boulders that unexpectedly avalanche into your path get in the way!

I'll catch up soon!

Great ideas as usual. How much time (you said last year, but when?)did it take you to get from $0 to $600. Also, how do you find the affiliate product to promote? Do you target a certain geography.

At the rate you are going, your blogging income is going to take care of your debts very soon. John Chow should watch out! :)

hi everyone:) I have been MIA this week, a lot happening on the work front!

I think the thing that helped is just regularly writing and submitting articles, and also I had some good headlines! I could do it a LOT better now I've learned a few things.

My plan now is to focus on finishing my own info product and revamp my sites for better monetisation. Having to do this without spending much money really made me learn SO much MORE than when I was just buying up everything but not DOING things.

andy I started it in August when I was off work on crutches, trying to keep sane! so about 6 months with not really that much hard work.

finding affiliate product is easy and I didn't target regions. I've actually decided to set up a blog about what I've learned and what I wish I knew at the start!

Hi Louise

I just read this great post. It is really inspirational for me.I came across Bum marketing method just one week ago and that is how I stumbled upon this website. When I thought of asking question I realized that this post is almost an year old. Anyway, let me ask this question anyway.

1) This bum marketing method revolves around posting articles to article directories. Out of this we are targeting basically the Article Views and the URL clicks which brings the visitor to our landing pages. In this scenario, what is one of the best click thru ratio (CTR) for an ezinearticle?

I have posted three articles in the last few days. All the articles were approved and published and it has the below statistics.

1) Article 1 - Views - 33 Clicks - 8 CTR (24%)
2) Article 2 - Views - 360 Clicks - 75 CTR (21%)
3) Article 3 - Views - 358 Clicks - 141 CTR (39%)

Overall Views - 751 Overall Clicks - 224 Overall CTR (30%)

I know it is a very less number of views for an analysis but it would be really great if you, as a BUM Marketing veteran can tell me if this is below average, average, ok, great, or very good categories.

Thanks in advance,

Ramesh.
