Progress Report #11
I'm glad this month is over to be truthful, my goal was to keep our heads above water and we did, just!
Mortgage Balance $150, 170
Credit Card 1: $12,410
Credit Card 2: $ 270
Tax: $970
Emergency Fund: $0
The Good
April is over!
Its autumn, my favourite month and it is just beautiful at the minute. We've already had our first snowfalls for the year this week.
I just made the tax deadline and paid off last years tax. I am up to date on prepaying tax for this financial year. I can't really believe how I did this to be truthful! I have just worked non stop to find this money.
I have been able to sell a lot of stuff, mainly books I don't want anymore on Oztion. If you are an Aussies check it out, it is a lot cheaper than eBay.
I've had two job offers and plenty of contract work offers this month if I want them anytime. But I'm not jumping at anything just yet.
I have finished my own information product and I will start selling it in about 2 weeks. (not on this blog though, is completely unrelated)
The Bad
The head spinning great pay rise / job I was told about last month looks like it may get swallowed up in a restructure down the track. The temporary wage rise I was to get disappeared. To say I am unimpressed is an understatement! Work stress and workload are over the top at the minute.
Health issues are rearing their head, too much stress and work and not enough rest and relaxation. I may have made the tax payment but I'm paying for it with my health. I have no sick leave, as I have used it all up + leave without pay taking Dad to all his surgeries and medical appointments.
The Ugly
The nursing home where Dad is has been a very reckless in the use of his spending money. I now have an outstanding account, unauthorised, for almost $300!!!. Needless to say he does not have this amount, so we will have to pay it for him.
Several heated phone calls, and several letters of complaint later and I think they will be very, very careful that this never happens again. I seriously felt my blood pressure go through the roof over this one! Couldn't eat or sleep, it was just the very last straw this week.
Overall I am glad it's over. I am disappointed that almost a year on and we are now not ahead in our home loan at all. But that's what this blog is about, my journey, the ups and downs of it. I may be the eternal optimist ( a tired one) and I still think we can turn things around and pay off the mortgage early.
Next month I am focusing on:
Doing a complete review of my finances and budget ready for my 12 month review.
My health! Mainly getting some rest.
Getting my information product up and selling.
Getting back to blogging a bit more regularly!

I guess you jus thave to consider where you would be with your mortgage if not for this effort - gone backwards?
Also, sounds like you are doing very well with your mortgage overall - in comparison to the likely value of your home - so try to focus on that.
I do know what you mean though 0 it can seem like a lot of work and not enough reward sometimes, can't it?
I've been mulling over your post all day Louise, trying to think of something to say.
You've worked so hard this year and had some tough times on the way, but you will get there, I know you will. Get some rest and come out fighting. 2012 is our year, don't forget that!
